An elderly New York woman has lost thousands of dollars after scammers posing as TD Bank staff convinced her to hand over her debit card at her front door.
The 79-year-old Ridge resident got a call on August 19 from someone claiming to be with the bank about supposed fraud on her account and orders to give her card to a visitor, reports Greater Long Island.
A man then arrived at her home in a black Nissan Maxima and told her he would track down the fraud while arranging a replacement card.
The next day, about $4,200 was withdrawn from her account at an ATM in Shirley, prompting her to contact police.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Financial Crimes Unit detectives have released surveillance images of the suspect and are asking the public for help identifying him.
A cash reward is available for tips that lead to an arrest, and anonymous information can be submitted by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, using the P3 Tips app or visiting P3Tips.com.
