Is This a New Google Fitbit Device With a Screen? Kellen | amznusa.com

Shortly after the launch of the Pixel 11 series and the new Pixel Watch 5, marketing materials from Google included a mystery wearable device that looked like a mix of a Pixel Watch and a slimmed-down fitness tracker. Google never did say what the device was, but we may be a step closer to finding out today.

A device snuck through the FCC today from manufacturer Weifang Goertek Electronics Co. That name might not sound familiar and you might be wondering why we would care about devices made by that company. They have made devices for Google in the past, most recently the Fitbit Air (GW9C8).

The device that stopped off at the FCC today (spotted by 9to5Google), which is referred to as “Wireless Device,” carries a Google-esque model number in G8BL6 and has some sort of screen to access regulatory info.

Google Fitbit Device - FCC G8BL6

There isn’t a description or much of a hint that suggests this is a wearable, but to access its regulatory info, you have to follow the same steps that you would on a Wear OS device, like the Pixel Watch 5. It tells a user to head into Settings>System>Regulatory Information. In other words, this device has to have a screen and it could run Wear OS.

As for other details, this device lacks WiFi, which is odd. However, it does have Bluetooth and GPS.

So what is it? We don’t know and are simply guessing at this point. Part of me thinks it could end up being another Fitbit-branded device, since it’s made by the same manufacturer that built the Fitbit Air for Google. And if it is that smaller-screened device from marketing materials, something like a Fitbit Charge 7 makes more sense than something like a Pixel Watch A-Series with no WiFi.

Since it has a screen, this is unlikely to be the upcoming Pixel Tag.
