Logitech’s new travel mouse, the Mobi Fold, takes inspiration from the recent flip phone trend. It reminds me of the Motorola Razr or the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. It’s a Bluetooth LE-connected device equipped with an optical sensor. It offers resolution of up to 4,000 dpi, and adjustable sensitivity through the Logitech Options Plus app for Windows and Mac. It’s also compatible with iOS, Android, ChromeOS, and Linux.

I’ve tested it with a Windows 11 laptop and an Android phone. Fortunately, both connected and worked flawlessly. While I liked the lightweight design and long battery life, it’s not very ergonomic.

It’s a compact, lightweight device. It’s only a couple of centimeters thick when folded up. With a rounded hinge in the middle, it folds out into a low-profile tent shape, with an optical sensor on the underside, rubberized surfaces on the top, and two plastic mechanical mouse buttons at the front.

Logitech Mobi Fold: Ergonomics

It’s far from the most comfortable mouse I’ve ever used.

It’s annoyingly narrow across the width and the flat, triangular shape isn’t exactly what I’d call ergonomic. However, the smooth silicone casing feels nice against my hand. The mouse buttons also produce a distinct mechanical click–they’ve got just the right amount of resistance.

Between the two mouse buttons, there’s no scroll wheel. Instead, there’s a touch strip, which you use to scroll. The front and back buttons also provide forward and backward navigation.

If you’ve got a Windows or Mac computer that can run Logi Options Plus, you can reassign the buttons, allowing you to change things like the volume control and pointer speeds. You can also activate Logitech’s radial command menu here. You can even set one of the buttons to act as a middle mouse button. It’s a bit fiddly to set up, but it’s worth it, especially if you’re accustomed to using the middle button on your regular mouse.

Logitech Mobi Fold: Battery life

You can access the battery by opening the hatch on the underside of the mouse. That said, it’s not a standard battery you can replace. It’s actually a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that’s secured with a small screw. Honestly, I’m not sure why it’s accessible in the first place. It just makes the mouse more susceptible to water and dust.

The battery is pretty small (just 100 mAh), but it lasts a long time. Just over a month, according to Logitech. I used it for a week and I lost barely a third of the charge. It may vary depending on use, though.

You can charge the battery via USB-C. You can get about two or three hours out of it after a few minutes of charging. For a full charge, it takes a little under an hour. It charges fast, which is all well and good, but the port is in a strange place. You can’t really charge the mouse when it’s folded up. The mouse also doesn’t come with a charger or cable, so it’s on you to purchase those separately.

Logitech Mobi Fold: Conclusion

The Logitech Mobi Fold definitely gets portability right, but compromises too much on comfort. The narrow, low-profile shape takes some getting used to. Throw in the awkwardly placed charging port and the non-replaceable battery, and you’ll probably be left scratching your head. If you value a mouse that practically disappears into a bag when you travel, then the compromises might be worth it.
