The Pixel 11 series is not without secrets, one of which comes via the Screen Saver function that’s built-in for when you plug-in your device. Google added screen savers some time ago and they certainly needed improvements after last year’s Qi2 introduction to the Pixel 10 line. For the Pixel series, Google is bringing those.
When you get your Pixel 11 today, you’ll want to head into Settings>Display & touch>Screen saver to find the changes. We not only get a really cool new “Charge” option, we also get more clocks to choose from for the main “Everyday Clock” screen saver.
For the “Everyday Clock,” Google has expanded most of the clock choices from the lock screen into this screen saver. Previously, you had a single clock to choose from, with a couple of choices for date and weather layout. On the Pixel 11, you have a number of new possibilities.
As you can see below, you now have 6 digital clocks to choose from, plus you can swipe over to make it analog where you’ll find another 3 style choices. You’ll still have layout options, as well as a choice over which theme shows and when.
As for a new screen saver, you’ll see here that we have the new “Charge” option enabled. This is a charge-focused choice that shows you current battery status, the type of charging you are doing (like “Fast charging”), when your charge should complete, and sections for 0-80% and 80-100%.
Like the other screen savers, this new Charge option works in both portrait and landscape.
If you aren’t seeing these changes right away on your Pixel 11, you’ll want to make sure you’ve received the out-of-the-box firmware update that will accompany your phone. You will also want to look for an update to the Dreams app for your phone on Google Play.
As an added bonus, Google is also letting you select multiple screen savers and either swipe between them when active or you can long-press to bring up a switcher. This is super handy.
