SUPERGIRL Trailer Intros a Darker DCU ‘Super’ Hero Rotem Rusak | amznusa.com

Supergirl is flying into the DCU in 2026. But this “Super” Hero is nothing like her cousin. Instead, she lets her poorly behaved dog, Krypto, pee on a newspaper in the house (he mostly aimed right), she’s into doing shots on other planets, giving off grunge vibes, and altogether introducing a much darker energy into the Superfamily of the DCU. Supergirl, played to perfection by Milly Alcock, is giving off a lot of devil-may-care energy, but beneath that, it’s clear she’s suffered A TON. We knew from her first chaotic Superman appearance, where she stumbled in drunk after party hopping on different planets, that we loved Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El, but after the first Supergirl trailer, we’re certain of it. We are absolutely invested. You can watch Supergirl‘s first teaser trailer below.

The DCU needle drops hit us hard once again, as Supergirl‘s trailer takes off to the sounds of Blondie’s “Call Me.” Kara is celebrating her 23rd birthday by herself, and she pledges that 23 will be her best year yet. She mentions that it’s “not a very high bar.” And we feel that. We also like that the Supergirl trailer immediately introduces Kara as Kara Zor-El, letting us know that, unlike Clark, Kara has not acclimated nicely to an earthly existence, but is instead deeply enmired in her past on Krypton.

And it’s hard to blame her for that, because as the Supergirl trailer also reminds us, she watched her whole planet get destroyed and lost everything the day Krypton fell. That’s enough to drive anyone to drink on red-sun planets… even the super-powered. In the end, as Kara declares in the Supergirl teaser trailer, she’s nothing like her cousin, Superman. “He sees the good in everyone,” She says, “And I see the truth.”

Despite this, though, we see Supergirl suit up and transform from someone sitting at home in their pajamas to a true hero, who, despite her misgivings about the way the world works, will likely fly in to save the day before long.

In addition to being a beautiful character piece about Kara, the DCU’s Supergirl trailer also gives us a glimpse of Jason Momoa’s Lobo, along with plenty of action, fun worlds, and a growing friendship between Kara and Ruthye Mary Knolle, played by Eve Ridley. The pair team up in Supergirl, joining together on a quest for vengeance to take down Supergirl‘s villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. We love their dynamic already, just based on this Supergirl teaser trailer.

The DCU‘s Supergirl will release in theaters on June 26, 2026.
