Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 and later now fixes several issues with Modern Standby that caused sudden wake-ups and abnormal battery consumption, reports Windows Latest.
Modern Standby is a standard feature on newer computers that uses the S0 Low Power Idle energy mode, which is a mobile-like sleep state where the system can still run certain background processes.
The problem has been that certain background processes were able to break through standby mode, waking the computer without the user noticing and thus draining the battery unexpectedly.
After the update and the fix, Windows 11 will automatically limit wake-up sources if it detects unusually high battery consumption during Modern Standby. In this mode, the computer can only be woken up by the user opening the lid or pressing the power button.
