We still have a couple of months left in 2026, but A24 is already preparing us for an explosive start to 2027. The company’s upcoming thriller Slayground dropped a trailer that feels very appropriate for Nerdoween, and we are, as always, intrigued at their creative stories. This one turns a haunted attraction into a place of real-life murder and horror that leave a man’s life in pure chaos.
We meet “Metal Mike” Graves, a scare actor who wakes up inside a haunted attraction. He is surrounded by the dead bodies of his fellow thespians and has no idea what’s happened. Is he guilty? Why can’t he recall what took place? Is there perhaps some malevolent force involved? The answers to these questions will unfold in Slayground, and we witness the wild race towards the truth in this trailer. Traditionally, a film that releases in January, especially one that is in the thriller or a horror-adjacent category, meant that it probably wasn’t going to be that great. It’s usually known as a “dump month,” which is unfortunate.
But, considering this is A24 and that films like Scream (2022), Bad Boys for Life, and M3GAN have done well, it would not be shocking if this film found lots of success. There’s no company that does marketing quite like A24 and this premise is quite intriguing for those who love thrills. The cast includes some new as well as familiar names, including Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Stanley Simons, Sophie Wilde, Young Mazino, Imogen Poots, Matty Matheson, James Badge Dale, and Stephen Root. Honestly anything that Root is in is worth checking out because he rules.
What Is the Release Date for A24’s Slayground?
Slayground will bring lots of mystery, thrills, and probably a few plot twists to the big screen on January 29, 2027.
